Crossing the Diamond
Lawrence of Berkley and I decided to make a short morning run out to Carleton, Michigan for some photo action. It wasn't the best lighting, but we had a blast anyhow.

While out Geocaching a couple weeks back we spotted a young Black-Crowned Night-Heron wading in the Rouge River, hunting for food. Unfortunately he didn't seem to like us watching him and flew into the trees lining the banks.
I started my afternoon trip to the Blue Water region with a visit to the Marysville boat launch. There wasn't much activity, but the wooden ramp with its steel plates was pretty intriguing. I spent a little time playing with the D700 and the 105mm Micro before moving on.
Adalay and I took an evening break and headed for the Detroit Zoo for an adults only event. This young zebra had been in a "fight" with a peacock a few days earlier and had been showing off for them ever since. Odd. How does a peacock scuffle with a zebra?
Adalay and I took an evening break and headed for the Detroit Zoo for an adults only event. It's rare that we're able to see the Red Panda, but this evening one of them was up and wandering around the exhibit. They're so cute.
Adalay and I took an evening break and headed for the Detroit Zoo for an adults only event. I stopped to enjoy cool lighting on the Horace Rackham Memorial Fountain. This water caught my interest, so I whacked out the sliders in ACR to produce this. Kinda cool.
Adalay and I took an evening break and headed for the Detroit Zoo for an adults only event. The first event of the evening was to have been feeding of the Polar Bears, so we made our way back to their exhibit. Unfortunately the Polar Bears were inside enjoying their air conditioning while the Black-Crowned Night-Herons took over the exhibit. Odd. I didn't think these guys liked arctic weather.
I decided to make a run up to Port Huron yesterday for a little shooting with the new D700. There wasn't much happening, but I did have the chance to pop-off a full 4GB card of three-frame bracket sweeps.
I stopped by the Lightship Huron in time for the American Mariner to start its turn before the Blue Water Bridge. I found this sign curious though -- who would try swimming in the river anyhow?
